Hi, I have a question i just purchase wd sn850x, 2TB pcie gen 4 nvme and i have inserted this nvme in pcie gen 4 slot in the motherboard, my motherboard is gigabyte auros pro B550M, on cristal diskmark software i am getting 7300 read 6300 write speed, but when i actully coping any file in this nvme i am getting 530 to 550mbps why? Also i am using this nvme in pi box m2-333-DL encloser in usb 3.1 gen 2 slot, getting the same actual file transfer speed of 530mbps, why i am not getting over 1 gbps actual file transfer speed despite having pcie gen 4 nvme?

recently purchased M2-333-Dl, I'm using T-force SSD normally it is giving without enclosure around 3000 mbps read and 2500 mbps write but using with enclosure only giving 480 mbps on usb 3.0 port. Can anyone confirm is it same with or my one is defective

Just bought the Pibox sata enclosure.
I tried copying 13gb game file from internal hdd to a 120gb ssd in the enclosure. I was initially getting 150MB/s but after copying 4-5gb speed drops to 40MB/s.
Is it normal with the enclosure or is it because of the cheap galax ssd I'm using (the ssd probably don't have any cache)?
It's because of the Hard Disk data transfer speed limitations
Ssd might be heating up
If Your SSD does not have a DRAM chip, it can use part of your motherboard's RAM as a Hardware Memory Buffer - but for that it should be installed in the motherboard directly. It can't use HMB through USB. That is the main reason of slow speed.
Speed of the SSD is dependent on several factors - main ones are the actual speed of the NAND chips, type of controller on the SSD and whether there is DRAM chip on the SSD. Also whether the NAND is TLC (Triple) or QLC (Quad) . TLC is better because only 3 bits are written per unit.
Also the pSLC cache makes a huge difference. The controller will only use one bit per unit for every unit in the SSD - for TLC that makes 1/3 of the SSD capacity at full speed. After the disk is idle, these written bits are pushed into the other vacant bits so that every unit is available for full speed writing. So a good SSD will give you top advertised speed till 1/3 of data is written after which the speed drops down drastically.
If the advertised speed is for PCI gen 4 and you have a gen 3 motherboard - you will get half the advertised speed.
Continuous writing will heat the SSD - without proper heatsink, thermal throttling wil occur and speed will drop drastically.
USB 3.2 Gen 1 gives 5 gbps but 3.2 Gen 2 gives 10 gbps. 3.2 Gen 2x2 gives 20 gbps. Since gbps is gigabit/sec as g is not in capital (Upper case), divide the gbps by 8 to get theoretical GBps (Giga byte per sec)
If you use an SSD like MSI 480 pro with DRAM and excellent controller, you will get the best performance.

@@hello-everyone765 hello , can you help me as i am also looking for one , since this enclosure supports us 3.2 gen 2 whereas i have a usb 3.2 gen 1 , does that means i have a 5gbps limit which translates to around 600MBps (that'll also fluctuate as i don't expect a peak sustained performance )

Get samsung ssd 970 evo plus or 980 if budget permits. Try to get a TLC memory and not a QLC as TLC offers better performance

You can use double sided flash ssd upto 2TB without heatsink.
